What Should a Painter Do?, 2011

Installation View, Diane Rosenstein Gallery, LA. CA.

What Should a Painter Do? stages a three channel audio and references the series of Barnett Newman paintings “Who’s Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue”. Newman’s comments from the film “Painters Painting” have been sampled and modified for one channel of the sound, while the other two channels are heavily processed versions of the same voice channel. Played back altogether, a sound collage of voice and abstract sound are created.
