This series of graphic prints are comprised of single words or short phrases that are used in manufacturing for shipping, receiving, and handling. These labels are used for goods and services, during their production, shipping, or receiving process. As an artwork, these are repositioned and understood as goods and services. These prints are about themselves as much as they are about the flow of goods and commodities. In the context of an exhibition, in a collection, or even in storage, they would have different meanings, and would continue to identify in those contexts. The colors are sampled from the original labels, and the font has been modified to one that is more self-consciously aesthetic and offers a form of translation from the original label. These are an instruction for a task, both for the art viewer and the worker. This defines the act of looking at a work as a form of labor, and the artwork as a commodity, and that is part of an endless chain of manufacturing.
