What Should A Museum Sound Like?, 2010
Audio CD, 53:34 minutes / live recording of performance at Whitney Museum
$15.00 (+ $5.00 shipping & handling)

“What Should a Museum Sound Like?” is a site-specific work that involves a text written in 1963 by Marcel
Breuer, the architect for the Whitney Museum. A voice actor was hired to record the text, describing Breuer’s
vision for the Whitney. The floor plans and elevation drawings of the Whitney Museum were then translated
into a series of composed sounds using MetaSynth, a composition and sound design program that can
translate images into sound. In a live performance at the Whitney Museum, the original recording of the text
was remixed live through a series of effects, loops, and software. Read more…

In The Year 2525 Remix, 2008
Audio CD / 03:45 minutes (repeated)
$10.00 (+$5.00 shipping & handling)

The 1969 science-fiction rock single “In the Year 2525” is a dystopian prediction of the future with musical
harmonies and a recurring chorus. The song’s theme is that of a doomed future and a dependency on
technologies and pharmaceuticals. Recorded in the sixties during the Vietnam era, it captured the
dehumanizing aspects of advancing twentieth century culture. I reworked the sound to reflect culture’s
disorientation and utilized the Recipe for Poetry by Dada poet Tristan Tzara. For this project, I subjected
the lyrics of “In the Year 2525” to Tzara’s recipe for poetry and then remixed the actual song based on that
random act of selecting. The lyrics of the entire song are still represented, but not in the original order. Read more…
